Hoo haa, that’s one huge air into the pocket courtesy of Chris Miller during this year’s Portland stop of the Dew Tour. Maybe you would like to see more of Chris skating the world’s first portable concrete bowl? The final stop of the 2008 Trifecta for the Master’s division was a cacophony of skating. Like the prior two stops, Pat Ngoho and Buck Smith battled it out for top honors. In the end, Pat would win the 2008 Corn Cup while Buck, with his second place finish, would take the overall 2008 Trifecta for the Masters.

You’ve heard the term “in it for life”, well here are a few dudes that fit the phrase. It’s Steve “Salba” Alba, Steve “Bulky” Olson, Tom “Wally” Inouye, Chris “Cooksie” Cook and Dave “Double-D” Duncan. These are some of the skaters that blazed a trail for modern skateboarding and it’s always good to see them during Trifecta weekend. Check out a few pics after the turn.
Come on over to Extracto Roasters on Saturday afternoon, October 27th from 4-6 p.m., for the closing of the Fernhill Skatepark art benefit. There are still plenty of great photos for purchase and all proceeds go to building another “sick” skatepark here in our fine city. When the going gets tough, well, the tough get going. It’s time to build more skateparks folks and here’s your opportunity to contribute and/or get involved. On Thursday, Oct. 4th, from 6-8pm come check out over 60 images for sale in support of the Fernhill Skatepark at Extracto Coffee House. Don’t fret, if you can’t make the opening, the art will be up all month and available for purchase. A mere $35 per print with all proceeds going directly to making Fernhill skatepark a reality. We’re off to the windy city, Chicago, Illinois for this week’s edition of Yuri’s 80’s Re-Vert Fantasy Skate. The year was 1986 and many a midwest skater made the pilgrimage to the Chicago Blowout to see their skate heroes compete. Spinning tricks ruled the day and Tony Hawk’s back-to-back-to-back-to-back McTwists were a contest first. It was hot as a dragon’s breath during the Tigard stop of the 2008 Trifecta but that didn’t stop the pros from just killing it. The field was massive with over 70 skaters competing for the cash. With that many skaters zooming around on fast Dreamland ‘crete, a few mishaps are bound to happen. Aside from a few minor injuries, the contest was a huge success. Pure skateboarding mayhem went down along with some tunes and a few fireworks. Check out over 100 photos from the Pro ranks in the gallery.
