Pick Your Poison: LC4 Benefit

Light and Dark LC 4 Benefit T-Shirts by Mark Conahan

In recognition and support of the Lincoln City Skatepark, we have created a t-shirt in honor of the recent snake run addition. All proceeds from the sales of these shirts go directly to offsetting costs related to the snake run. Dreamland and the local skaters have donated a lot of time, materials and money to make this snake run a reality. Support their efforts and buy a shirt or two. Every little bit counts and it goes directly to one of the gnarliest parks and most dedicated crews on the planet.

Special thanks to Dreamland crew, the LC locals, MC for the rad art and Craig Conahan for helping with production. See some shirt color samples after the turn…

Sleestak Snakes It

LC 4 Done

The gents at Sleestak have some pics of the nearly finished snake run at Lincoln City. Looks like the site is still under construction with respect to decks, etc…. That thing is big so tread lightly because snakes can bite. See all the pics courtesy of Sleestak after the turn….

Thanks to Dreamland for another great skate opportunity.

Motivational Decks

Grover and Emy @ Battle Ground

Steve Grover, co-owner of Cold War Skateboards, is one of skateboarding’s goodwill ambassadors. During a recent session at Battle Ground, Steve met local skater, Emy, working on his axle stalls in the 12′ bowl. It’s rare these days to see a young skater pushing themselves in the deep. Steve was so stoked he made a deal with Emy: make three, back-to-back, axle stalls in a single run and the prize is a new deck. Well, long-story-short, Emy is sporting a brand new Cold War deck. See larger versions of the above photos after the turn….

Jeff and Bill Went West

Jeff and Bill Went West

If you skated in northwest Indiana in the late 70’s, chances are you skated the Levee Plaza Skatepark in West Lafayette, IN. Some of the locals included Eliott Tubbis, Mark Kenagi, Greg Hall, Chris Lee, Ben Shipman, Dano Kildsig, Rich Burton, Dave Lank, Jeff Isbell and Bill Bailey. The skatepark was our own little melting pot where we spent sweltering summer days rolling around the sun bleached bowls and snake runs. We came together to skate and escape the doldrums of the Midwest.

It seems the skatepark was a launch pad of sorts, as it was the first step to escaping the grips of the Midwest. Along with skating, there was a strong connection to music and most, if not all, of the names listed above began to play music in bands. Jeff and Bill eventually punted on the midwest and took their musical aspirations to Los Angeles. What became of them? Well, it seems Jeff took the stage name Izzy and Bill changed his name to Axl on their way to establishing the band Guns-n-Roses. So without further delay, here’s your YouTube Tuesday featuring some dudes that were a part of the Levee Plaza skate crew.

Secret Agent Skater Man

Monday Cover Vol. 2 Issue 17 - Brad Krohn

There’s a man who leads a life of danger and he’s this week’s Monday Cover skater. It’s none other than Secret Agent Skater Man, Dr. Brad Krohn, power sliding at Battle Ground. Word has it that they took away his name and gave him a sweet tartan scarf along with a lapel-mount voice altering device as compensation.

Congratulations Brad!

See an alternate cover along with a couple of backside bert slides after the turn….

No Diving

Oudalay - Hip to Waterfall @ Glenhaven

Diving into an empty bowl is an art. Well, it is if you don’t plan on injuring yourself. Check out Oudalay’s solution to the problem as he “dives” into the Glenhaven peanut.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Monday Cover Vol. 2 Issue 16 - Steve Grover

This week’s Monday Cover skater, Steve Grover, took some time to work on his backside air under the new lights at Battle Ground. Of the sixty-seven covers we have done, this is Steve’s fourth cover. Check out Steve’s other Monday Covers: v1-7, v1-17 and v2-4.

On the topic of Battle Ground park additions/modifications, the bark dust around the park perimeter has been replaced with concrete sidewalks, metal railing and spectator viewing areas. Hopefully this will reduce the number of bowl-ledge-setting-leg-danglers and yeah that’s a technical term. Kudos to the City of Battle Ground.

Congratulations Steve on another cover.
