Come on over to Extracto Roasters on Saturday afternoon, October 27th from 4-6 p.m., for the closing of the Fernhill Skatepark art benefit. There are still plenty of great photos for purchase and all proceeds go to building another “sick” skatepark here in our fine city. When the going gets tough, well, the tough get going. It’s time to build more skateparks folks and here’s your opportunity to contribute and/or get involved. On Thursday, Oct. 4th, from 6-8pm come check out over 60 images for sale in support of the Fernhill Skatepark at Extracto Coffee House. Don’t fret, if you can’t make the opening, the art will be up all month and available for purchase. A mere $35 per print with all proceeds going directly to making Fernhill skatepark a reality. Bucky Lasek takes his annual BBQ to a whole other level by actually barbecuing himself mid-smith grind (note hot dog in hand.) Possibly the only full pipe on the planet with a doorway, Pier Park Skate Park inspires Andy MacDonald to frontside lip slide the doorway’s upper edge. Focus, determination and about ten tries later, Andy made the trick and the rest is history. So what do you call that trick? Well, Bucky mentioned to Andy that he might call it a “tin can.” We thought it looked more like an “under rock.” Whatever it’s called, it’s insane. Who’s got a big bowl? Well, this week’s Monday Cover skater, Bucky Lasek, has a big bowl and it shows. That’s one massive lien air. Well, PLG took top honors at this year’s Portland stop of the 2009 Dew Tour and it’s our belief that the shirt had something to do with it. What’s this, PLG wearing a Dead Milkmen t-shirt or is he? Upon closer inspection, you realize that this is yet again another shoe company “borrowing” punk rock imagery for their own purposes. Sure hope Osiris flipped some dineros the Dead Milkmen’s way for the use of that logo. RIP Dave Blood and check out more pics of punk rock PLG after the turn.
