Atmospheric Isolation

Monday Cover Vol. 4 Issue 48 - Pedro Barros

The “skate tide” is shifting, so to speak, and this week’s Monday Cover skater, Pedro Barros, is one of the skaters leading the way. Pedro seems to find comfort in the rare air above the ramp as is evident during this year’s Portland Dew Tour stop. Unfortunately, Pedro dislocated his elbow during a practice run and was unable to compete in the finals. Luckily, we snapped a few pics during the qualifiers that will blow your mind. Check them out after the turn.

Congratulations Pedro!

Punk Rock PLG

PLG Wins Portland Stop of the 2009 Dew Tour

Well, PLG took top honors at this year’s Portland stop of the 2009 Dew Tour and it’s our belief that the shirt had something to do with it. What’s this, PLG wearing a Dead Milkmen t-shirt or is he? Upon closer inspection, you realize that this is yet again another shoe company “borrowing” punk rock imagery for their own purposes. Sure hope Osiris flipped some dineros the Dead Milkmen’s way for the use of that logo. RIP Dave Blood and check out more pics of punk rock PLG after the turn.

Ripping!

Monday Cover Vol. 6 Issue 42 - Lizzie Armanto

That’s one rad 5-0 to fakie in the corner courtesy of this week’s Monday Cover skater, Lizzie Armanto, during the 2011 Dew Tour stop in Portland. Lizzie shreds the gnar and she makes it look effortless. Style matters. Check out a few more pics of Lizzie taking it to the concrete after the turn. Cheers on the top 25 finish at Bondi as well.

Congratulations Lizzie!

A Skater By Any Other Name …

Monday Cover Vol. 6 Issue 16 - Zion O'Friel

… would shred as sweet. Shakespeare anyone? This week’s Monday Cover, Zion O’Friel, the skater previously known as Michael, lofts a big ollie to tail smack in the Dew Tour bowl. Native to Northwest concrete, Zion is right at home when it comes to gnarly terrain. Check out more pics of Zion taking it to this little slice of utopian skate unity after the turn.

Congratulations Zion!

Charlie and the Portable Concrete Bowl

Monday Cover Vol. 5 Issue 42 - Charlie Wilkins

A story Roald Dahl didn’t write. This story revolves around this week’s Monday Cover skater, Charlie Wilkins, and his adventures inside a portable concrete bowl poured by Wally Hollyday. The bowl was perfect and free of any Uumpa-Lumpas just the way Charlie likes it. Check out more pics of Charlie cashing in his golden skate ticket after the turn.

A Day in the Life….

Owen Nieder @ Pier Park

Each year about this time, Portland becomes the epicenter of planetary skateboarding activity. The attraction is anchored around the annual Oregon Trifecta followed by the Dew Tour, not to mention all the great skateparks and a city that embraces skateboarding. That brings us to Owen Nieder, a skater that takes full advantage of the skate surroundings while visiting our fine city. One of his favorite spots to skate is Pier Park. Check out Owen sampling one of Portland’s skatepark gems after the turn.
