One Year of Gnarness

Jessica - Piped @ Pier Park

Yep, that’s right, Pier Park has almost been open 365 days and a few of us are thinking about throwing it a birthday party this Saturday, October 13th. Yeah, we know it’s a day early since it opened on October 14th, 2006. The plan is to skate, hang with friends and hold the first, hopefully annual, pipe pasting event. There’s even talk of cash and merch for the highest pasted stickers. It looks like folks are planning on arriving around the noon hour so come on out and celebrate some of the best ‘crete on the planet. See another pic after the turn….

Saturday Morning Regressions

YTT 071009 - Retro Cartoons Banner

Grab yourself a bowl of cereal, set back and enjoy a little walk down memory lane. This week’s YouTube Tuesday features a small list of Saturday morning cartoons and shows that stimulated our little minds back in the 60’s and 70’s. Enjoy!

Hip Bones

Monday Cover 46 - Shawn Reinert

We took a little trip over the weekend and look what happened. Shawn Reinert, this week’s Monday Cover skater, boned a sweet FS air over one of the hips of the DRW Bowl. This bowl is SICK!. Speed, speed and more speed can be had here. It’s amazing what a little collaboration between a math teacher and Dreamland can produce.

Congratulation Shawn and many thanks to the DRW crew for their hospitality.

An Evening with Black Francis

Francis Black - Band

So who is Black Francis? Well, replace Francis with Frank, switch the order of the words and think The Pixies. If you still don’t know, that’s O.K. just think of this as an educational experience. Black Francis played the Doug Fir Lounge on Monday and Tuesday of this past week. If you have been to the Doug Fir, you know how good of place it is to see a band; keep it like a secret. All we can say is the show was great and it made us want to buy the new album titled Bluefinger. Check out some pics of the show after the turn….

Skate the Strip

Rooftop Plaza @ Las Vegas

Take a good like at these roof tops. Anyone see the forms of a skate plaza? Possibly a big three, escalator rail, pyrimids and hubbas. At least that’s what we saw when we looked out of our hotel room each morning (Click on the pic for a closer inspection.) After the turn, check out a few other places along the strip in Las Vegas that we thought would be fun to skate.

Rain Abatement Program

Nine-Nine Bowl Banner

Fall has arrived and along with it, some of that wet stuff. Fortunately a few folks have prepared for just such an emergency. Check out a recent session at, what we will call, the Nine-Nine Bowl. See all the radical action after the turn…. EPM Out!

Floating Fujita

Monday Cover 45 - Paul Fujita

This week’s Monday Cover is Paul Fujita, skater and artist extraordinaire. If ever there was an all around ambassador for skating and art in this fine city, Paul is at the top of the list. Check out the style in this frontside ollie to tail slide. Sick! See more tweaked-out action after the turn….

Congratulations Paul!
