Space Helmet? Check.

Monday Cover Vol. 4 Issue 13 - Nate Frank

How apropos that this week’s Monday Cover skater, Nate Frank, chose to wear his skate space helmet during a recent session at Newberg. Even without the helmet, this backside ollie ally-oop off the extension is, dare we say, cosmic. Check out more pics of skate-naut Nate defying gravity after the turn. EPM “this is ground control to major Tom” Out!

Congratulations Nate!

Observing a Super Bowl

Observatory Beach House on Earth Patrol

So you’ve been thinking about building a skate friendly domicile? Well, here’s one that just might fit the bill. Inspired by the 18th century Indian observatory Jantar Mantar, designer Gabriel Orozco in collaboration with architect Tatiana Bilbao, built the aptly named observatory beach house. In addtion to being a skate friendly design, the home integrates well with the natural surroundings. This concept brings to mind a community of bowl dwellers and their skateboarding lifestyles. If ever the opportunity arose to visit this home, count us in. Check out more photos and drawings after the turn. EPM “a super bowl in every house” Out!

CameraBag App for iPhone

CameraBag App for iPhone

In addition to last week’s TiltShift Generator, here’s another useful camera app for your iPhone, CameraBag from Nevercenter. It comes with 12 filters for your phone photo-tweaking needs all for the paltry sum of $1.99. Once again, non-iPhone owners don’t fret, there’s a version for Macs and PCs, albeit a bit more pricey. Check out a photo of Burnside in combination with the various filters after the turn. EPM “yes, this kind of thing is my bag, baby” Out!

Good Vibrations

The Vibrators Foto-Friday on Earth Patrol

The groundhog has prognosticated six more weeks of winter but baby, baby, baby, it’s not bringing us down. Like a bunch of London girls, skaters here know how to squeeze out a session during breaks in the weather. Check out Jessie, Jack, Gordon, Grover and MC along with their petrol-phobic skates tearing up Newberg and MC’s bowl after the turn. EPM “into the future” Out!

Virginia Beach – Mt. Trashmore 1985

Yuri's 80's Re-Vert Fantasy Skate - Virginia Beach, Mt. Trashmore 1985 NSA

We find ourselves at Mt. Trashmore circa 1985 on this week’s edition of Yuri’s 80’s Re-Vert Fantasy Skate. The sky is blue, the ramp is white and the skating is red hot. Just like last time, Yuri wants to know your top 5 skaters along with your pick for best trick. Check out all the sun drenched, 80’s East coast beach culture shredding after the turn. EPM “reminicsing about a thicker ozone” Out!

Back in the Saddle

Monday Cover Vol. 4 Issue 12 - Benji Galloway

February has arrived and kicking-off this month’s series of Monday Covers is skater-on-the-mend, Benji Galloway. Benji managed to seriously fracture his left arm days after his win at the Pier Park stop of the 2009 Oregon Bifecta. It seems he is feeling a bit better these days as witnessed with this backside ollie over the hip at MC’s bowl. Check out a few more pics of Benji shredding it up after the turn.

Congratulations Benji!
