Believe it or not, we are wrapping up our third year of Monday Covers and we are honored to feature Mr. Dedication himself, Bryce Kanights. Whether he is on a board, behind a camera or blogging it up for Skate Daily, Bryce is a true skateboarding connoisseur. Check out Bryce on a coping tasting tour after the turn.
Congratulations Bryce!
One of the best skate sessions on the planet goes down every October 31st under the Burnside bridge. It’s the annual Burnside Birthday/Halloween bash. As usual, the skating and folk’s Halloween costumes were spot on. Check out the action in the gallery including a bonus gallery from Shawn “Little Bob” Reinert. Cheers to Burnside for 19 years of concrete skate therapy.
Burnside Birthday and Halloween Bash – 19 Years
Sporting the caveman casual wear at Burnside’s annual birthday bash is this week’s Monday Cover skater and Bedrock’s favorite son, Fred Flintstone. Fred was killing it in his period-appropriate codpiece. Noticeably absent from the shred-fest was Barney and the Great Gazoo. Maybe next year? Yaba-daba-doo, check out more pics of Mr. Flintstone in the mix after the turn.
Congratulations Fred!
Josh Falk takes it to the back wall at Burnside during the annual Halloween/Birthday celebration. Check out a larger version of this photo along with some gap action after the turn.
If you haven’t checked it out already, be sure to stop by Nemo Design, 1875 SE Belmont, and take in all that is Mixed Mania, an art show to benefit the Burnside project. The show is up until the end of the month and 100% of all art sale proceeds go directly to Burnside skatepark. So what are you waiting for? Grab a friend, head over to Nemo and in the words of Ivan Insane “buy yourself some skate art.” Check out a few pics from the opening in the gallery.
The snow has turned to rain and Portland is quickly becoming one giant slush bowl. Speaking of slush bowls, check out some still-life action from Burnside. The snow reflected light made the graffiti pop. Enjoy!
Snow Day @ Burnside
This week’s Monday Cover skater, Steve Grover, samples the ever evolving skate terrain at Burnside. An impromptu rail session broke out in the flat and Grover, not to be left out, busted his own move: old-guy-on-a-rail-slide. See the full frame version after the turn.
Congratulations Steve!
Alice Cooper made the anthem and the Burnside crew made the shrine. Check out this week’s Monday Cover skater, Rion “Scissorhands” Linderman, as he liens one in leather during the Halloween anniversary celebration at Burnside. That’s one great costume for trimming bush(es). Also, a big thanks to Shawn Reinert for the great Burnside photos. See more photos after the turn.
Congratulations Rion and Happy 18th Burnside!

About a week ago, we launched the Earth Patrol Network, a place for folks to share their creativity with respect to photos, video and music as it relates to skateboarding. As a follow-up, we are going to start recognizing contributions and contributors to the network. Our first person of note is Carl Warren and three of his recent images from Burnside Skatepark. Thanks for sharing those Carl; they are exceptional. Check out the images after the turn.
