No Ramp For Old Men

Vert Ramp @ Hood River

The Hood River vert ramp has a new home and it’s not far from its current home. Word has it that some folks in Parkdale, a community south of Hood River, are moving the ramp to an indoor location. That’s all we know. With respect to Grover, well, he’s sad, dejected and keeping a stiff upper lip. Hang in there champ; sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. More photos after the turn.

Monday Cover Vol. 2 Issue 48 - Steve Grover

All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey. This week’s Monday Cover, Steve Grover, hopes this ramp is in his backyard before the next winter day. OK, that’s a bad attempt at tweaking some Mamas and Papas lyrics but it’s true. Grover is stoked about the opportunity to possibly own the Hood River vert ramp. So stoked in fact that he hand delivered his bid to the City of Hood River. Keep your fingers crossed Portland vert ramp lovers. Check out a few more pics after the turn.

Congratulations Grover!

Maestros of the Corn

Masters @ Battle Ground - 2008 Trifecta

The final stop of the 2008 Trifecta for the Master’s division was a cacophony of skating. Like the prior two stops, Pat Ngoho and Buck Smith battled it out for top honors. In the end, Pat would win the 2008 Corn Cup while Buck, with his second place finish, would take the overall 2008 Trifecta for the Masters.

Congratulations Buck and Pat, we’ll see you next year. Check out all the action from the Master’s division in the gallery.

Knights of Crown Royale

Tigard Pros - Trifecta 2008

It was hot as a dragon’s breath during the Tigard stop of the 2008 Trifecta but that didn’t stop the pros from just killing it. The field was massive with over 70 skaters competing for the cash. With that many skaters zooming around on fast Dreamland ‘crete, a few mishaps are bound to happen. Aside from a few minor injuries, the contest was a huge success. Pure skateboarding mayhem went down along with some tunes and a few fireworks. Check out over 100 photos from the Pro ranks in the gallery.

Kings of Crown Royale

The heat didn’t let up during the Tigard stop of the 2008 Trifecta and neither did the skaters. Buck Smith took top honors in the Masters division due in part to stomping one off on T-Rex’s head. Check out the gallery for some pics from the Master’s event.

President for a Day

Monday Cover Vol. 2 Issue 15 - Mike Estes

Well, maybe not President but being the featured Monday Cover skater is pretty darn close. It’s Mike Estes gettin’ his skate on at the new Hood River Super-8 Cam Bowl. Is he making some sort of political statement about feeble Republicans with that pachyderm on the lip? We’re not sure. Check out an alternate pachyderm-free cover of Mike after the turn….

Congratulations Mike!
