Stereolab – Wonder Ballroom

Stereolab - Wonder Ballroom, Portland, Oregon

Portland manages to attract its share of great bands including England’s Stereolab. When we arrived at the Wonder Ballroom, it was packed with appreciative fans even before the opening band, Monade, started their set. The mystery as to why so many people were interested in the opening act was quickly resolved when Lætitia Sadier saddled up to the mic, a bonus for Stereolab fans. Why? Well, Lætitia also fronts Stereolab. That explains why the singers of these two bands looked so similar. Anyway, the show was great and we managed to snap a few photos as well. Check them out in the gallery. EPM out!

Très Chaud!

Pravda on YouTube Tuesday

As of late, it seems we have been dining on a regular diet of bands with French roots: Prototypes, Yelle, Stereo Total and Stereolab. As an addition to this list, we offer you this week’s YouTube Tuesday featured artist, Pravda. Named after the now defunct Soviet Union’s leading newspaper, Pravda is one of our new favorite bands. Never thought anyone could improve on Wendy O. Williams’ use of electric tape until now. Check out all the music after the turn.

Stereolab

Get your electro-lounger out and chill with some tunes from Stereolab. It’s something a little more cerebral and perfect for hanging out with your houndstooth and tweed loving friends. Their latest release, Chemical Chords, is a good listen and this post was created entirely while under its sonic influence. And, since it’s YouTube Tuesday, there are Stereolab videos after the turn. EPM chilling out.
