Gap at Kazadum

Monday Cover Vol. 3 Issue 14 - Super Unknown

Unlike the Balrog, this week’s Monday Cover skater, Super Unknown, made it easily over the gap at the newly opened Ed Benedict skatepark. Why does this skater go by Super Unknown? Well, because we have no idea what his name is but we were stoked on his skating. Check out more of Super Unknown shredding it up after the turn. Now, how many folks would pay money to have Grover in a Gandalf suit stand next to the gap repeating “None shall pass!” as people attempt the gap?

Congratulations Super Unknown!

Very Superstitious

Foto-Friday for February 13, 2009 - Trevor’s Bowl and Aumsville

Not really, but it is Foto-Friday the 13th and, as usual, we have some skate photos for you. Now if only we had a skater named Jason shredding it up in a hockey goalie mask. Maybe next time? See all the pics from our weekend session at Trevor’s Bowl and the Aumsville skatepark in the gallery.

48 Laps in the Bowl of Life

MC’s 48th B-Day

Today Mark completed his 48th lap around the Sun. Wonder how he will celebrate? We have money on a Pier Park session. Happy Birthday MC! See more B-Day well wishes over at SnA.

Over Easy

Ed Benedict - Opening Day

As promised, here’s a few more pics from opening day/evening at Ed Benedict Skatepark. The kicker over the bioswale was getting sessioned hard. All the proof in the gallery below. Thanks to all the folks supporting the skatepark system here in Portland. Cheers!

Chiswick Records

YouTube Tuesday February 10, 2009 - Chiswick Records

We interrupt our Spectrum of Sound series for this important announcement. If you appreciate bands associated with the nascent punk movement in the U.K., Chiswick Records’ lineup is well worth your phonic consideration. Check out a few audio/video offerings from the likes of The Rings, Johnny and the Self Abusers, Radio Stars, The 101’ers, Motorhead, The Damned and more after the turn. EPM just walking in our brown shoes.

Home Field Advantage

Monday Cover Vol. 3 Issue 13 - Chad Fenlon

Aumsville is such a great skatepark and that’s where we caught-up with this week’s Monday Cover skater, Chad Fenlon. Chad is an Aumsville ex-pat and it shows; that’s some crazy amplitude. Check out more of Chad’s handy work after the turn.

Congratulations Chad!

Come and Get It!

Ed Benedict Opening

The weather couldn’t have been nicer for the “soft opening” of Portland’s latest skatepark, Ed Benedict. Based on the number of folks rolling the park today, it seems the park is a huge success. So what are you waiting for? Grab your deck and get yourself some of that gap. Stay tuned for more photos soon. EPM out!

Update: Map to Ed Benedict

Update: As promised, here are the pics.

Wandering Hughes

Dan Hughes in Walla Walla and Pendleton

He’s at it again. Dan Hughes went on another cold weather skate adventure. This time he hit two new stellar parks a la Dreamland: Walla Walla, WA and Pendleton, OR. The dude is committed and it looks like he caught-up with our favorite coffee bean roaster/skater, Mr. Thomas Reese. Check out all the pics over at Northwest Skater. See you folks soon.

Cal Skate on Fire!

Cal Skate on VIMBY

Literally and figuratively. On the literal side, there was a small electrical fire at the shop on Tuesday morning and fortunately Howard was there with fire extinguisher in hand. Some clothes were damaged from the fire extinguisher material but have no fear, all is well and the shop is open for business.

On the figurative side of the coin, VIMBY, video in my backyard, produced a segment about Cal Skate. After the turn, check out MC Fujita giving you the lowdown about the skate shop. Enjoy!

Rockabilly Bummer

Lux Interior - RIP

It’s a sad day for rockabilly fans. Lux Interior, frontman for The Cramps, has passed. The world is a little less interesting without you in the Goo Goo Muck. RIP Lux. Check out some memorial related info over at the Daily Swarm.
