April has finally arrived and along with it, hopefully, more seasonable weather. March was a wet one and Burnside was one of the few places where you could find a bit of dry terrain. We snapped a few pics during a Sunday brunch session at the park last weekend. Check out some wet weather refugees on this week’s Foto-Friday after the turn. EPM “shamwow” Out!

Yee haw, grab a rail and smack your tail for this week’s Monday Cover skater, the Carving Cowboy. Mixing his western style fashion sensibilities with skateboarding, the Carving Cowboy rounds ’em up during the 20 Year Burnside celebration. That’s some mighty fine skate wrangling there partner. Now mosey along for some more skate-n-spur action after the turn. EPM “true grit” Out!
Congratulations Carving Cowboy!
We headed down to Burnside this morning for a pre-turkey feast session with the Grover clan. What a great way to start the day. Jack and Francis sure enjoyed themselves. Check out brother and sister having fun at the park after the turn. EPM “thankful” Out!
The current Burnside Bridge opened to traffic in 1926. Jump ahead to current times, and this 84 year-old bridge provides refuge to the now 20 year-old Burnside Skatepark. Each year, on Halloween, skaters don costumes and flock to the skatepark to celebrate in this magical symbiotic skate environment. Check out a few pics from this year’s celebration under the bridge after the turn along with a few bonus videos from BK and GVK.
Like the early hunter/gatherers of our species in search of food, skaters here in the Northwest continuously search for an opportunity to skate during the fall and winter months. If you are motivated, there are plenty of public and private spots to keep your distal journey around the Sun full of shredding. Check out Jack and Marek satiating their skate needs after the turn. EPM “weed burners at the ready” Out!
Have you ever seen a skateboard riding a skateboard? Well, this week’s Monday Cover skater, Rocco Caravelli, explores the recursive possibilities of that very subject as he back smiths the spiral of doom at Burnside. Rocco continues to step it up and those frontside grinds to revert off the rail are, as we say in the skate vernacular, SICK! Check out more pics of Rocco shredding it up after the turn.
Congratulations Rocco!
Tomorrow night at Berbati’s Pan, Dave Hupp will be premiering some ultra fresh video of this year’s Halloween Burnside skate session. While you are there, be sure to check out Dave’s photography show featuring images taken over the last 20 years at Burnside; now that’s commitment. Check out all the details on the flier after the turn. EPM “skate and create” Out!
Just out of the bunker, replacing hate and destruction with love and harmony is this week’s Monday Cover skater, Adolf “Fudge” Hisler. Grooving on a solid ollie over the hip during the 20 year celebration at Burnside, Fudge lets his rainbow swastika fly. Without a doubt, Fudge won the Mel Brooks Genius Award for this spot on costume. Check out more zany goose stepping pics after the turn.
Congratulations Fudge!
The Burnside crew is working on a capsule bowl addition to the park in preparation for the 20 year anniversary and they need your help in the form of donations. It’s easy, just click the massive Burnside donate button after the turn and be sure to check out the flier for this year’s Halloween festivities. EPM “skater design/build” Out!
In addition to last week’s TiltShift Generator, here’s another useful camera app for your iPhone, CameraBag from Nevercenter. It comes with 12 filters for your phone photo-tweaking needs all for the paltry sum of $1.99. Once again, non-iPhone owners don’t fret, there’s a version for Macs and PCs, albeit a bit more pricey. Check out a photo of Burnside in combination with the various filters after the turn. EPM “yes, this kind of thing is my bag, baby” Out!
