So what do you do after a day of snowboarding on Mt. Hood? If you’re Mark Partain, you head down the mountain to Hood River for some true Oregon ‘crete. Riding for the Old Man Army vet division, Mark has earned his stripes in the skate trenches. Off the board, you can find Mark surrounded by boards at Wally’s Skate shop in Hood River. One of the best skate sessions on the planet goes down every October 31st under the Burnside bridge. It’s the annual Burnside Birthday/Halloween bash. Good is the operative word. Sleestock – Version 4.0 went down last weekend at the Hood River Skatepark and it was all good. Local medical staff reported a bit of an increase in face reattachments due to folks shredding them off but outside of that…, yep, it was all good. It’s Groundhog’s Day! What better way to celebrate the midpoint of the Winter season than with furry little burrowing creatures.
