Skateboarding and more ….
So what do you do after a day of snowboarding on Mt. Hood? If you’re Mark Partain, you head down the mountain to Hood River for some true Oregon ‘crete. Riding for the Old Man Army vet division, Mark has earned his stripes in the skate trenches. Off the board, you can find Mark surrounded by boards at Wally’s Skate shop in Hood River. On this rare leap-year Foto-Friday, come session with us at the Hood River Skatepark. Check out Chase, Mike, Isaiah and MC as they sample the varied terrain including the new super-8 cam bowl. Unfortunately, Wally was relegated to surfing the couch due to a nasty flu bug and missed the session. Hope your feeling better Tom.
The summer of 2011 has arrived and with it, the Lifeblood squad hit the road to do a bit of skating and filming in and around the Columbia River Gorge. Skate stops included Windells, Echo, Walla Walla, Richland, and Hood River. So what are you waiting for? There’s some new Grindline concrete taking form in the town of Bingen, Washington. It’s another skater design/build gem in the Columbia Gorge and it’s just across the river from Hood River. A few weeks back, we took a little road trip out to eastern Oregon and Washington for some end-of-summer skate action. Rolling in the friendly confines of the GVK mobile, we hit Hood River, Irrigon, Echo, Pendleton, Milton-Freewater and Walla Walla on our weekend adventure. Looking for a wicked game of skate with the chance to win a paid trip to Los Angeles? Well, your in luck. IPS Skate and Snow in Hood River is hosting the Original eS Game of Skate today at their shop. You better hurry though, registration starts at 2 p.m. and the game is on at 3 p.m. Winner gets a paid trip to Los Angeles to skate in the finals.

Good is the operative word. Sleestock – Version 4.0 went down last weekend at the Hood River Skatepark and it was all good. Local medical staff reported a bit of an increase in face reattachments due to folks shredding them off but outside of that…, yep, it was all good. If ever there was a Will Ferrell appropriate skate event, Sleestock is it. Not only does he star in the remake of Land of the Lost featuring Sleestaks, his character in Old School fits perfectly with the celebratory atmosphere that is Sleestock.
