Yuri's 80's Re-Vert Fantasy Skate - Gotcha Grind 1989

This week’s Yuri’s 80’s Re-Vert Fantasy Skate stop takes us to Seattle, Washington and the NSI Gotcha Grind circa 1989. Even though massive spinning air tricks ruled the day, precision lip moves a la Groholski and Schroeder started to make their way into the skating main stream. Check out all the skating along with the Super Slo-Mo cam, and some good tunes after the turn.

  • 87? I think this event took place in 1989?

  • Yep, I think your right. It did take place in 1989. There’s some commentary in the video with respect to when Peanut Brown went pro that confirms it went off 1989.

  • I love this weekly feature 🙂

  • Compare the last four videos. These guys were getting way better with time. The Tahoe contest was a slam fest. This one looks like a highlights video.

  • Yes they were, but the Tahoe ramp was pretty gnarly too. Not your average NSA contest ramp.

  • 1 Hawk
    2 Hosoi
    3 Lance
    4 Miller
    5 Grosso
I could see the difference 2 years make these guys were flying. Best tricks Body Jars. Much bigger than earlier contest.
