There’s something about Mike Swim floating over the pipe hip at Pier Park that just seems to encapsulate skateboarding. If you haven’t noticed, Mike is the skater featured in the main Earth Patrol banner at the top of the page. Style is important and Mike has some of the best. Check out some stills of Mike in the gallery.

This week’s Monday Cover skater, Morris Wainwright, lofts an ollie in the deep at Pier Park. Morris made the three hour trip from Seattle to Portland to session with the locals. It’s obvious after watching Morris skate with Mike Swim, that there is a West Seattle style, so smooth. Check out some more pics of Morris getting his shred on after the turn.
Congratulations Morris!
A lot of folks came out to Pier Park this weekend to celebrate its second anniversary. The weather was perfect and the sessions were heated. Bacon’s Benji Galloway was sizzlin’ it up in the deep. Check out some skate contortions by Benji after the turn.
It looks like a great weekend for hanging out and skating your favorite skate spots. So rally around the old skateboard with some friends and leave your troubles behind. Check out a few photos of folks hanging out at Pier Park during a session in the summer of 2007. EPM out!
It seems Ohio is getting a lot of attention these days and rightfully so. Devo is playing a benefit in Akron tonight, Oct. 17th, in support of Obama for President. Get more details about the event over at Club Devo. He’s just the Prez. He’s just the Prez. The Prez you want.
The Hood River vert ramp has a new home and it’s not far from its current home. Word has it that some folks in Parkdale, a community south of Hood River, are moving the ramp to an indoor location. That’s all we know. With respect to Grover, well, he’s sad, dejected and keeping a stiff upper lip. Hang in there champ; sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. More photos after the turn.
It’s Time Machine Wednesday! Just kidding, although today’s post was over 20 years in the making. It’s the follow-up to the Mystery Shooter on Deck post we ran a couple weeks ago. The event is a Pro/Am skate contest, the time is the late-80’s, and the location is Indianapolis, Indiana. And, with respect to who the mystery skater was in the prior post, we are taking Livmo’s answer of Dan Wilkes as the winner unless someone can prove it wrong. Check out all the snapshots in the gallery. Some of the skaters include Brian Mank, Pat Dotson, Tony Magnusson, Bill Ferguson, Buck Smith and more.

Today is the second anniversary of Pier Park’s opening and it looks like the weather is perfect for skating. So here’s to you Pier Park and all your concrete glory; cheers! Now check out some pics of MC getting some love from the park earlier this summer and then head on out and get some for yourself.
Thanks MC for the art as well as your skatepark advocacy.
All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey. This week’s Monday Cover, Steve Grover, hopes this ramp is in his backyard before the next winter day. OK, that’s a bad attempt at tweaking some Mamas and Papas lyrics but it’s true. Grover is stoked about the opportunity to possibly own the Hood River vert ramp. So stoked in fact that he hand delivered his bid to the City of Hood River. Keep your fingers crossed Portland vert ramp lovers. Check out a few more pics after the turn.
Congratulations Grover!
The Hood River Skatepark is getting some new terrain including a snake walk from the existing park to the restrooms. Check out a few pics of the Hood River crew shaping the snake in the gallery.
