The folks from FuelTV did a little segment on skateboarding artist, Paul Fujita and his creative use of broken skate decks. Paul is a fixture in the local skate and art scene here in Portland and has found a creative way to merge two of his passions. Check out Paul’s segment after the turn.

Skate the Vote – EPM Out!
This week’s YouTube Tuesday is an exercise in finding song titles that end in “Love Song.” Originally, it was going to be a post on Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Damned, and the Cure but the “Love Song” connection between the Damned and the Cure caught our interest. It’s these kinds of explorations that sometimes result in finding new bands to explore, case in point Uh Huh Her. So enjoy some videos of a few bands that have songs that end in “Love Song” after the turn.
This week’s Monday Cover skater, Billy Coulon, takes it to the hips at Newberg. With power, speed and style, Billy finds some of the more unique lines in the park. Lucky for us, Billy also applies his skate creativity as part of a skate park building crew here in the Northwest. Skater design/build parks are the best. Check out a few more pics after the turn.
Congratulations Billy!
Skater turned producer/director, Steven Reeves, released his latest creation titled: Bailgun. It’s a saga about a boy and his dog in post apocalyptic Paupau New Guinea. Not really. More like everyday skateboarding insanity here in the Northwest. Check it out after the turn. It’s cool.
Thanks to Daniel over at Bacon Skateboards for the tip.
It was hot as a dragon’s breath during the Tigard stop of the 2008 Trifecta but that didn’t stop the pros from just killing it. The field was massive with over 70 skaters competing for the cash. With that many skaters zooming around on fast Dreamland ‘crete, a few mishaps are bound to happen. Aside from a few minor injuries, the contest was a huge success. Pure skateboarding mayhem went down along with some tunes and a few fireworks. Check out over 100 photos from the Pro ranks in the gallery.

A birthday is a great reason to go out and skate. Grover did just that. Check out a few larger images after the turn.
Happy Birthday Grover!
Yep, Forks, the last stop on our whirlwind Olympic Peninsula tour. Grindline did a great job on this park. The bowl finish is super smooth and the custom tile work is a nice touch. Other interesting features include a cool bricked stamped wall with coping, a concrete ribbon, a rock hit and a linear street section. The locals seemed stoked on their park as well they should be, it’s a good one. Check out the gallery for all the photos. Forks is worth the drive.
It’s official, Dreamland built a piece of art in Port Angeles. It should win some type of award for efficient design and silky smooth concrete finish. Put Port Angeles on your list of parks to skate at least once. In addition to a great skatepark, Port Angeles is a great place to chill. There’s water, mountains and some spectacular late summer weather. Check out Tony, Mickey, Phil and Deb as they sample the sweet, sweet ‘crete.
There’s plenty of form in this design but the function is a bit limited. With a few minor tweaks in the design, this pool would be epic. Remove those hand rails, leave a bit more room over the steps and patch up the water ins/outs in the flat and this bowl becomes super fun. The steep walls and the elongated pockets make this a great design for some speedy lines. See all the recon after the turn.
