T-Minus 20 Years: Ohio Skateout

1988 Ohio Skateout

If you were in the Midwest and you skated, chances are that you went to at least one of the Ohio Skateout events in Dayton, Ohio during the 80’s. If not, you’re in luck, because we now have the technology to take you back to 1988 and that year’s edition of the event. Check out a few snapshots from that day along with a full length video after the turn.

Aspirations and Milestones

Monday Cover Vol. 2 Issue 46 - Mark Conahan

Indian summer is in full swing here in the Northwest and this week’s Monday Cover, Mark Conahan, took full advantage of the weather. Mark continues his love/hate relationship with the door in Pier pipe. This frontside air over the door is about as high as it gets yet the frontside carve over the same door still eludes him. Go figure? On the H.O.M.O.S. front, Mark achieved another milestone, his 500th comic. Amazing. Check out a few more shots of Mark after the turn.

Congratulations Mark!

Concentrate!

Tony Magnusson Concentrates

Tony Magnusson is deep in thought but he already knows the answer with respect to our mystery skater challenge. Come on, somebody knows the identity of the mystery skater. What kind of board is he riding? He’s goofy foot as well. Seems to be sponsored by Tracker trucks. Check out a close-up of the board after turn. Great riches await the first person to get all three questions answered correctly.

Maestros of the Corn

Masters @ Battle Ground - 2008 Trifecta

The final stop of the 2008 Trifecta for the Master’s division was a cacophony of skating. Like the prior two stops, Pat Ngoho and Buck Smith battled it out for top honors. In the end, Pat would win the 2008 Corn Cup while Buck, with his second place finish, would take the overall 2008 Trifecta for the Masters.

Congratulations Buck and Pat, we’ll see you next year. Check out all the action from the Master’s division in the gallery.

Hi In the Middle ….

Mystery Crew

If you decipher the post heading, you will more than likely know where this mystery crew is standing. It’s another way-back photo from skate-days-gone-by. Recognize any of these legendary dudes? Check out a larger photo and our best guess of names after the turn.

Mystery Shooter On Deck

Mystery Shooter on Deck

Here’s the deal. Guess the photographer on deck (left side pics), the skater (right side pic) and the event and you win big. How big? Well, let’s say something greater than $25 in value. How’s that? Now guess away. Clue, the photos are over twenty years old.

Divas of the Corn

Ladies @ Battle Ground - 2008 Trifecta

What’s the Corn Cup? It’s the final stop of the 2008 Trifecta. Like last year, Battle Ground was the host skatepark but unlike last year, the event went to completion without a change in venue due to poor weather. The ladies kicked things off with a heated session that got the crowd going. Julie was hitting some high carves in the cradle and Megan pulled an invert at the end of the heat. Check out more of the ladies action in the gallery.

Paying Dues

Jack and Grover @ Battle Ground

Every skater pays some dues along the way, some more than others. It’s a part of what we do. Recently, Jack made a deposit into his newly opened account with the Bank of Skateboarding. Every little bit counts. Check out Grover and Jack as they invest in their local institution of shredding after the turn. EPM Out!
