Pool Style

Monday Cover 23 - Ashley Anson @ Glenhaven

This week’s Monday Cover features the skate stylings of Ashley Anson. We caught her flowin’ her style in the newly opened Glenhaven peanut pool. When she’s not skating, you might find Ashley showing her art at one of the local galleries. Check out some video of Ashley along with some other skaters in the trailer for Ultra.

Congratulations Ashley!

Eyes of Glenhaven

Jaymeer - Eyes of Glenhaven

Come see the commissioned art at the newly opened Glenhaven Skatepark. Local Portland artist, Jaymeer did a great job and you can see more of his work here. Maybe he could put his skills to work on the outside of the Pier Park Pipe?

Peanuts! Get Your Peanuts!

Glenhaven Peanut - Opening Day

Glenhaven is open and the early report is it’s sick! A large crowd of folks showed up to sample the latest Dreamland creation here in Portland. Click on the picture to get a larger view of MC getting a taste of the perfect peanut.

Congratulations to the City and Skaters of Portland.

Dawn to Dusk and then Some

Introspective MC @ Glenhaven in the Pre-Dawn

This week’s foto-friday is a photo essay based on our daily planet rotation; like the title says dawn to dusk and then some. Today is also the opening of Glenhaven Skatepark and we just happen to have a few top secret shots from the Peanut Pool as well. See MC, Troy, Randy, Chris, Britney, Ben, Thomas, Xavier, Shane, Kim, and Grover after the turn….

EPM Note: Thanks to MC for the great stitching job on the above photo and for all the effort he put into the Glenhaven Skatepark project. May your airs be massive and your grinds long.

Skate Walla Walla

Boiler Room - Walla Walla, WA

Onions, wine and a killer indoor ramp are just a few of the reasons to visit Walla Walla, Washington. Thomas, of Walla Walla Roastery fame and a Rebel Skates original, invited us to skate their indoor ramp located on the outskirts of Walla Walla during a recent trip to eastern Washington. This ramp is a lot of fun and the granite coping is perfect. More details about the ramp and our adventures are detailed in MC’s article on Skate and Annoy. Check out some pics from the session after the turn and thanks to the Walla Walla crew for all of their hospitality.

Update: Video footage of Boiler Ramp added after the pics. Thanks for the submission Thomas.

Boneless for the Masses

Lance - FS Boneless @ Irrigon

It’s time for another Monday Cover and Lance Leisher of Team Rebel is this week’s skater. Check out Lance’s frontside boneless in the deep on opening day at the Irrigon skatepark. As you can see, locals were lined around the bowl and they seemed stoked on the level of skating.

Congratulations Lance on another Monday Cover.

Stay tuned for more coverage of the Irrigon opening and our adventures in Walla Walla. Check out Skate and Annoy’s coverage for a quick fix. -Earth Patrol Out.

Rebels in Richland

(l to r) MC, Jay and Thomas

Team Rebel descended upon the Richland, Washington skatepark and provided the locals with their own private demo. Rebel-ites went to work along with their new team manager, Jerry from Pendleton – who just happens to look exactly like Jay Smay from Portland.

The Richland Skatepark is large with a good balance between tranny and street terrain. It’s nice to skate a park that is spacious and provides ample room for folks to chill without cramping the lines of others. Team Rebel opted for the bowls; see pictures of Brogan, Lance, Shawn, Mark, Jay and alumnus team member Thomas after the turn….

Keep It Like a Secret

Prosser Bowl and Sky

Well if you’re reading this, the secret is out. Prosser, Washington has a sweet skatepark a la Grindline and the locals shred. On this day, the weather was perfect along with the face wall of the 10′ bowl. Other features include multiple usable waterfalls and hips along with a nice wrap-around mini halfpipe. Everyone in our little skate possie, MC, Shawn and Rich, gave this park a rating of two tongues way out.

Check out some pics from our short but enjoyable session that features locals, Andy, Jeremy, Jose and Caleb.

Joy Division and a Synthesizer Band Sample Set

Joy Division

It’s raining so we thought a little Joy Division was in order for this week’s YouTube Tuesday. In addition to Joy Division, which eventually became New Order after Ian Curtis took a permanent leave, we give you Ultravox, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Yello, Art of Noise and OMD. This list constitutes and fairly good sampling of early 80’s synth bands minus the genius of Devo and the hair extraordinaire Flock of Seagulls.
